Crossing borders

If writing this text can help someone in the future it is worth my time writing it. There is so much inconsistency when crossing borders. For people who like to plan and be in control it can become a nightmare.

One thing who is consistent is the cheating bastards waiting for the "falange". They have some equal patterns. They are very helpful. They speak better English than the goverment workers. Most of the time they can offer you a ride with the exotic Tuk Tuk. Not easy to turn down. For 1500-2000 baht they can even take you in to the new country and back, if you only are in need for an extended visa. What they don't tell you is that the bus can do the same. For 100 baht!

Follow the flow, the local people travel as cheap as possible. When travelling from Mukdahan to Savannakhet or the other way, the bus waits you on the other side of the border. The bus cycles every 45 minutes.

What I do not understand is why I had to pay 1800 baht to get into Laos, and nothing going back to Thailand the other day. Also you had to pay 100 baht when leaving Savannakhet. There is also stories saying you have to stay 2 nights before you can cross the border again an renew your tourist visa. The Tuk Tuk driver earlier used that argument and that going with him I could escape the rules. Sorry Mac!
